Dear Friends/Students,
I am very excited to be offering this introduction to the Japanese Sword program to all of you! Legitimate, certified Sword instructors are very hard to find! I have been teaching Iaido for over 30 years! I am currently the chief instructor of the North AmericanSan Shin Kai the organization founded by my teacher, Mitsuzuka Takeshi, Sensei. I meet so many people that are facinated by the Japanese Sword but are overwhelmed as to where to start. Well here is your answer! This course starts with the very crucial rules of Sword etiquette as taught in Japan. Without these rules, any demonstration of sword technique may fall short of proper respect to the trained Martial Artist's eye! Next, we continue with the proper methods of drawing, blocking, evading attacks, cutting and finally how to safely close the sword. From your first bow as you enter the school to that last bow as you leave the floor after a productive practice! This is authentic Japanese Swordsmanship!
Each lesson will present the technique of the sword in a methodical, simple, step by step way for all to follow. Each new lesson will review the previous lessons' material and add new information. By lesson 3, you will be amazed at what you have learned about Japanese Swordsmanship!
The entire program will contain:
The etiquette of the Sword as you carry your sword, enter the school, begin and end your practice and leave the school.
The stances or postures for balance and proper movement.
How to draw the sword safely, quickly and effectively.
How to block and parry with the sword.
How to smoothly transition the sword from movement to movement.
How to cut and thrust with the sword .
How to return the Sword to the scabbard.
Several pre-arranged 2 person Bokken drills with tachi (long sword).
Won’t you join me for this exciting course! The training is open to all regardless of style or experience. Don’t worry about kneeling or squatting if you have any physical problems! I will teach all techniques from the standing position.
Safe, unsharpened practice sword supplied for the lessons!

Each of the 3 Lessons will be 75 minutes of traditional Japanese Swordsmanship!

After each lesson is complete, I will make it available to the subscription group on the Mountain Teachings website. So you can follow along and learn as the class participants do.
The cost is $9.95 individually per 75 minute lesson or $27.00 total for the entire course.
